This is going to be a bit of a rambling post, so let’s get the good stuff out of the way first. My Starfinder Scenario, Gifts Ungiven 6-11 is out now, and I hope people are enjoying it and maybe chuckle a bit playing it. Getting the scenario ready for online play I extracted the images (into transparent PNGs) and resized all the maps so that each map square is 50×50 px for easy import. Here are all those files for your online game usage. Mild spoilers are contained within, so keep that in mind.
Now, let’s look back at 2023 real quick. It was a big year for Starfinder – we got the last two hardcovers for SF1E (Ports of Call and Enhanced). Enhanced is a bit of a coda on the ruleset, so a lot of the content tries to fill gaps and provide options, but Ports of Call is a rich setting book just as important as Pact Worlds, Near Space, Drift Crisis, and others. Enhanced will no doubt get a lot of usage in the 2024 as we wait for more details on SF2E, but like the other setting books, Ports of Call is going to remain relevant well into the life of the new edition. Of course, we also got the first few Playtest reports for SF2E (here’s all three so far) which is shaping up to be a melding of the PF2E rules and Starfinder in an interesting way. Also, I really need to get a Captain Concierge shirt.
Here on the blog we took another look at Kaiju (here), put up a bunch of Star Wars and Star Wars adjacent content (here, here, here, here, here, and here), and expanded the personal mobility options with hoverskates, roller derbies, and rocket wheelies (to escape your feelies!). Oh, and my few solo publications are marked down for sale. The typical crop of player options, monster stats, and GM musing that you’ve come to expect over the last 5 years. Hard to believe it’s been that long!
Not sure what 2024 will hold, but I expect to continue doing SF1E content for the year. Currently my plans are: 1. get all the hover board, skates, and other such content collected and updated into one place. 2. Take a look at 3.5 Psionics and Dreamscarred Press’s psionics and how some of those ideas might look in Starfinder. 3. Further work on the Kaiju and Titan adventure setting (hoping for a 2025 release, with PF2e & SF2E rules, maybe D&D 5E if I’m really ambitious). 4. Not get too locked down on one thing and keep the content fresh and topical as much as possible. We’ll see how it all shakes out.
Last bit. I like to do actual plays when I get the opportunity, and got chance to join the Ballad of Seven Dice folks for a crazy episode of Lost Tower of Ambrosia in December. Check out our wild Moon fight!
As always, if you like this or any of the other content here on Solo Run Studio I would welcome a little of your support through Ko-fi. Until next time Starfinders!
