Have you ever watched a show and seen an idea so wild you just had to incorporate it into your next GM session? That was my feeling watching the giant mutant caterpillar attack on Netflix’s new Resident Evil show.

It’s in the first episode, and the encounter is a bit short (too short for my tastes frankly) so I don’t feel it’s too much of a spoiler to talk about this chonker. In fact, I felt like a couple guys with assault rifles taking out a pillar the size of one and a half semi trailers was a bit underwhelming. We also didn’t see the oversized grub do much more than throw its weight around, so I’m expanding a bit on the concept here, adding a bristles defense and inherent toxicity that is very common in real world caterpillars.
Massive omnivores, I see these guys moving through the ruins of some civilization and hoovering up any biomass it can find to fuel its growth. Do they eventually cocoon and turn into space moths? That’s for you to decide.
