Starfinder – Scorpenek Annihilator

Back after a few week hiatus. Gave me a chance to get a few freelance projects wrapped up and do some much needed rest, but I’m happy to be back and bringing y’all the Starfinder homebrew I hope you love.

So, as an added bonus for me, we are also a month out from the end of the Book of Boba Fett, so I don’t have to worry too much about spoilers. I say that, because this week we are going to be looking at the very large and in charge Scorpenek Annihilator droids. Huge mechanical anti-armor and anti-air weapons platforms, these juggernauts are overkill for ground forces.  In Starfinder terms, this is a robot foe more suited to mech combat than against your players outside of a vehicle or mech. However, we can build them in such a way that they are appropriate threats in terms of CR for a party, or -3 off their CR for a mech combat (to provide a decent challenge).

First off, these things are size Huge. Second, clearly they are technological constructs. Already we’ve got the bones here. Based on the threat, I’m putting them at CR 14, using the combatant array from AA1. Attacks are the scythe legs, and of course the massive twin cannons. Add in the force field and we are just about done. Without further adieu…

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Droid Sphere (Ex) As a standard action the scorpenek can change its limb configuration, much like its droideka cousins, taking on an ovoid form that is considerably more mobile. While in droid sphere form the scorpenek gains a +30 bonus to land speed, but loses its force field and cannot make attacks. It can change back into its normal configuration as a move action.

Integrated Force Field (Ex) the scorpenek has an integrated force field just like the shield provided by a orange force field armor upgrade, except that it has unlimited charges. Its internal force field generator cannot be removed or targeted by spells or effects. When the number of temporary Hit Points supplied by the scorpenek’s integrated force field is reduced to 0, the scorpenek can spend 1 Resolve Point as a reaction to regain the 40 temporary Hit Points supplied by the force field.

Ruinously expensive, scorpenek annihilators are top of the line combat robots that are effectively self piloting tanks or mechs. Highly mobile, with heavy cannons that can damage even starship hulls, the scopenek is often the back bone of highly funded private militaries or minor warlord forces.
