Starfinder – Farscape

Farscape

I was reminded recently just how much I loved Farscape. The show is such a complete departure from the narratives provided in Star Trek and Star Wars, with a non-humanocentric story that is rarely seen in scifi, much less scifi tv shows. The fantastic creature designs, costumes, and effects courtesy of Henson studios don’t hurt either. It’s available on Amazon Prime now, and I urge anyone who hasn’t checked it out to do so if they can.

One of the other great things about Farscape is how easy it is to port the setting over to Starfinder. Very little needs to be changed really, as the series freely embraces sci-fantasy, mixing psychic powers and ‘magic’ with high science and weird aliens. There is even a rough equivalent to the Azlanti Star Empire in the Peacekeepers. Replace Drift travel with Starburst and its equivalents, convert some of the races, and you are good to go.

With that in mind, here is a quick conversion for the Delvians, the plant race of Zotoh Zhaan (Delvian Mystic).

Zhaan, Delvian mystic

DELVIAN

A species of sentient humanoid plants hailing from the planet Delvia recognizable by their blue skin dotted with light green patterns.

Ability Modifiers +2 Wis

Hit Points 6

SIZE & TYPE

Delvians are Medium humanoids with the delvian and plantlike subtypes

Photonic

Delvians are able to survive on only sunlight, oxygen, and occasional access to soil, but if that form of sustenance is unavailable they can live on the meat of organic creatures.

Botanic Resilience

For effects targeting creatures by type, delvians count as both humanoids and plants. They receive a +2 racial bonus to saving throws against mind-affecting effects, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning, unless the effect specifies that it works against plants.

Toxic Budding

In periods of extreme famine or other deadly circumstances, a delvian grows buds and can exude a highly toxic pollen. If reduced to less than half their HP, the delvian exudes pollen to a radius of 15 feet. Any living creature that enters or starts its turn in this area of effect must succeed at a DC 10 Fortitude save or be sickened for 1 round.
